About RYVENA
RYVENA is an Australian sleep care brand based in Brisbane. We make 22 momme mulberry silk sleep masks and pillowcases, plus nose strips and mouth tape for better breathing overnight. Australian owned, Australian operated.
Made to our exact spec by specialist silk manufacturers overseas — the same makers behind genuinely high-grade silk. The silk itself is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Product Class I. Australian owned and operated; quality controlled where the expertise lives.
No. We don't test on animals and we don't work with manufacturers who do.
No. Silk is an animal-derived fibre, produced by silkworms. Our nose strips and mouth tape contain no animal-derived materials.
No — online only, on purpose. Skipping retail floor space and its margins is how we put certified high-grade silk in your hands without the boutique markup.
Through our contact page, or email operations@ryvenaofficial.com. We're in Brisbane, so we answer in Australian hours.
Safety & Suitability
Our Caution Statement lists every contraindication in full. It's linked from the footer and from both consumable product pages.
No. They're general wellbeing and comfort products. They aren't therapeutic goods and aren't intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or medical condition.
Speak with a qualified health practitioner before use. This applies particularly to mouth tape. We'd rather you check first.
Speak to your doctor or sleep specialist before using mouth tape or nose strips alongside CPAP. We're not able to advise on that combination, and we won't pretend otherwise.
The silk range is naturally hypoallergenic and suits most sensitive skin. For nose strips and mouth tape, patch test a small area before first full use and stop if irritation occurs.
Yes — do not use mouth tape, and speak with a doctor first, if any of these apply: difficulty breathing through your nose; a diagnosed sleep or breathing disorder; nasal congestion, a cold, or a sinus or ear infection; asthma or any chronic respiratory condition; severe heart or breathing problems; very low blood pressure; severe chapped lips or broken skin around the mouth; nausea or any vomiting condition; any condition causing difficulty breathing or swallowing; or if you have had alcohol or sedatives. Mouth tape is intended for adults and is not recommended for children. This is the same list as our Caution Statement, which is the authority.
No RYVENA product contains drugs or active ingredients. As with anything during pregnancy, if you have concerns — particularly about breathing or congestion — speak with your midwife or doctor.
Silk Sleep Mask
Momme measures the density of silk — the higher the number, the more silk per square metre. Most sleep masks use 16–19 momme because it's cheaper and photographs identically. It doesn't wear the same. At 22 momme, silk stops being delicate and starts being durable: denser, smoother, stronger, and still completely frictionless against your skin.
Yes. The contoured eye cups seal against your face and the V-shaped nose bridge closes the gap almost every other mask leaves open — that thin line of light along your cheekbones at 6am. Total blackout.
Melatonin is suppressed by very little light: in one study the average level that halved melatonin was about 24 lux, roughly a dim lamp. (Phillips et al., PNAS, 2019)
A 2023 trial found people encoded memories better and were more alert the day after sleeping in an eye mask. (Greco et al., Sleep, 2023)
No, and this is the main reason to buy it. The interior is shaped so the mask sits away from your face entirely. You can blink underneath it. There's no pressure on your lids, no pressure on your lashes, and none of the blurry vision you get from waking up under a flat mask that's been pressing on your eyeballs for eight hours.
Yes. The contoured cups sit around 1.5 cm off your face, clear of your lashes. Only very long extensions might brush the inner wall of the cup, and even then there's no pressure.
Yes. The single continuous silk strap is wide, with two overlapping velcro patches — one size, set to your head. It holds where you put it: no elastic dents, no pressure points, and no slipping in the night.
No. Silk is frictionless and the strap distributes pressure across a wide band rather than digging into a narrow line. That's the whole point of a wide strap over a thin elastic.
Hand wash in cool water with a gentle detergent. Don't bleach, don't tumble dry. Lay flat to dry, out of direct sunlight. If you'd rather machine wash, use the RYVENA Silk Washbag on a delicate cycle — that's what it's for. It is sold separately, and is not the same thing as the silk carry bag included with the mask, which is for travel.
Every one to two weeks with regular use, more often if you use night-time skincare or wear makeup to bed.
Yes — a branded silk carry bag is included with every mask.
Deep Black, Emerald Green and Blush Pink.
Yes. One size, fully adjustable. The strap is a single continuous band of silk — around 70 cm end to end laid flat — with two velcro patches, one on each end, overlapping so you set the fit to your own head rather than choosing a size.
Yes. Our 22 momme mulberry silk is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 at Product Class I — the strictest class there is, the one used for products made for babies. It means the fabric has been tested for harmful substances against the standard applied to a newborn's skin. Certificate SH025 240363, issued by TESTEX.
Very. Total blackout works the same on a plane at midday as it does in your bedroom, and because nothing presses on your eyes you won't take it off with blurred vision. The carry bag keeps it clean.
Nose Strips
Mechanically, not chemically. A raised spring band sits across the bridge of your nose and holds tension outward, physically lifting your nasal passage open. Nothing is absorbed, nothing is inhaled. It works from the moment it's on.
Nasal strips lower nasal airflow resistance by widening the nasal valve — strongest effect in people with naturally narrow or congested passages. (European Respiratory Journal, 2000)
RYVENA Nose Strips boost airflow by up to 50%. You feel it on the first breath after application, which is unusual for a sleep product — most take weeks before you can tell.
In a Karolinska Institute study, healthy adults had 10% higher blood-oxygen readings breathing nasally versus orally. (Lundberg et al., 1996)
Your sinuses release nitric oxide into every nasal breath — a natural vasodilator. Nestor puts it at roughly six times more nitric oxide through the nose than the mouth. (Nestor, Pulmonology Advisor)
Yes. A lot of snoring is caused by restricted nasal airflow forcing you to breathe through your mouth, which dries and vibrates the soft tissue at the back of your throat. Open the nasal passage and you address it at the source.
Two things. The raised spring band holds tension all night instead of relaxing after twenty minutes like cheaper flat strips. And the dogbone shape — wide flared ends — gives more surface area at each anchor point, so it's still on your face in the morning.
Yes, if applied to clean, dry skin. The flared ends are the reason. Skip moisturiser on the bridge of your nose before applying — that's the single most common reason a strip lifts.
Yes. They're sweat and water resistant, and they work as well on the bike or the mat as they do in bed.
No. Single use, one strip per night. Don't wear one for more than 12 hours in any 24-hour period.
At the basin, wet the strip with warm water and give it a few seconds. That loosens the adhesive so it lifts away clean and comfortable after a full night's wear — no sting, no tug. Then peel back slowly, close to the skin. Don't rip it off dry, and make the warm water part of your morning routine rather than an occasional rescue.
We specify premium hypoallergenic adhesive graded for sensitive, next-to-skin, all-night wear — an emphasis most brands skip, and the adhesive is third-party tested. Everyone's skin is still different, so patch test a small area before your first full use and stop if any irritation occurs.
No. Drug-free and latex-free, with a skin-safe hypoallergenic adhesive chosen for overnight wear rather than whatever is cheapest per roll.
Black, White and Pink. 30 strips per pack.
Mouth Tape
Because your nose filters, warms and humidifies every breath, and your mouth doesn't. Sleep with your mouth open and you wake up dry, groggy and no more rested than when you went to bed. Mouth tape keeps your lips gently sealed so every breath goes through your nose — the way it's supposed to.
Nestor's Stanford self-experiment — ten days of forced mouth breathing, then ten days nasal — produced snoring and disrupted sleep on the mouth-breathing phase, both of which stopped when he switched back to the nose. (Nestor, Breath, 2020)
There's a compact slot in the centre of the tape. It is there so no pressure builds behind the seal — nothing feels closed off, and your lips stay gently sealed rather than clamped.
Yes. Take a drink straight through the slot without peeling the tape away — that is what the slot is for. It also means no pressure builds behind the seal, so nothing ever feels closed off.
Yes. Mouth breathing is a major driver of snoring — keeping your mouth closed routes airflow through your nose and addresses it directly.
In a study of mouth-breathers with mild sleep apnoea, taping cut the median snoring index by roughly half. (Lee et al., Healthcare, 2022)
No — and there's a technique worth learning. At the basin, wet the tape with warm water and give it a few seconds. That loosens the adhesive so it lifts away clean and comfortable after a full night's wear. Then peel back slowly, keeping close to the skin. No sting, no residue, no red mark.
Our mouth tape adhesive is specifically engineered to work with all facial hair. It seals around your lips and will still stick to your facial hair enough to be effective. Just use warm water to remove the tape in the morning for extra hair protection.
Yes, and they're designed to work together — the strips open the airway, the tape keeps you using it. That combination is the Breathing Ritual.
No. Single use, one tape per night.
We specify premium hypoallergenic adhesive graded for sensitive, next-to-skin, all-night wear — third-party tested, and an emphasis most brands skip. It's still going on the skin around your mouth overnight, so patch test a small area before your first full use and stop immediately if irritation, redness or discomfort occurs.
No. Drug-free and latex-free, with a skin-safe hypoallergenic adhesive.
No. Mouth tape is not suitable for children.
Silk Pillowcase
Cotton grips your hair and drags on your skin every time you turn over. Across a night that's hundreds of small tugs — which is where bed head, sleep creases and breakage come from. Silk is frictionless, so your hair slides instead of catching and your face isn't being pressed into a texture for eight hours.
It reduces the friction that causes breakage and tangles. You'll notice it most if you have long hair, curly hair, or hair that's been coloured or heat-treated.
Independent textile testing (TRI Princeton) shows silk has a lower friction coefficient against hair than cotton — less snag, less tug, less mechanical breakage.
Cotton wicks moisture away from your skin overnight. Silk's protein fibres don't, so whatever you applied before bed is still doing its job in the morning rather than sitting in your pillowcase.
51 × 76 cm — standard Australian pillow size. Zipper closure, so it stays on the pillow all night instead of working its way off the way an envelope opening does.
Ten: Ivory White, Deep Black, Blush Pink, Pretty Pink, Cool Grey, Emerald Green, Steel Blue, Champagne Gold, Coffee Taupe and Rose Taupe.
Yes. Our 22 momme mulberry silk is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 at Product Class I — the strictest class, the one applied to products made for babies. Your face is on this fabric for eight hours a night, which is exactly why we went for the strictest class rather than the easiest one. Certificate SH025 240363, issued by TESTEX.
Hand wash in cool water with a gentle detergent, or machine wash on delicate inside the RYVENA Silk Washbag. Don't bleach, don't tumble dry. Lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight.
Yes — same grade as the sleep mask. Most silk pillowcases sold at a similar price are 19 momme or lower.
Yes. Silk is naturally resistant to dust mites, mould and bacteria, which is why it suits people who react to other bedding. We also specify fabrics graded for sensitive, next-to-skin, all-night wear rather than taking whatever the mill offers — and the OEKO-TEX® Class I certification is the independent check on that.
Silk Washbag
Protecting delicate silk in the washing machine. Put your sleep mask or pillowcase inside, run a delicate cycle, and the bag takes the abrasion instead of your silk.
Yes, if you want your silk to last. Machine-washing silk unprotected is the fastest way to ruin it, and almost nobody hand-washes weekly for a year. The bag takes the abrasion so your silk doesn't. Cheap insurance on a premium pillowcase.
Two sizes. Small (30 × 40 cm) suits your sleep mask and accessories, and is the size included free in the Blackout & Breathe Ritual. Large (50 × 40 cm) takes pillowcases as well, and is the one included free in the Silk Ritual, Comfort & Breathe and the RYVENA Sleep Ritual.
Yes. Lingerie, hosiery, anything you'd otherwise hand wash.

30 Nights. Sleep on it. Every RYVENA product carries the same 30-night window — silk, nose strips and mouth tape alike. Sleep in it, wash your hair on it, use it properly. That is the point.
If it is not right, contact us within 30 nights of delivery for a full refund.
Silk comes back in good condition with its original packaging. It does not need to be unused — using it is the whole idea.
Nose strips and mouth tape are different: for hygiene reasons, opened packs do not need to come back at all.
Return part of a bundle and the items you keep are charged at their individual price, with the difference refunded. Return the whole bundle and you are refunded in full.
Email operations@ryvenaofficial.com with your order number and what didn't work. We'll walk you through it.
Contact us with your order number and a photo. We'll replace it. This is separate from the trial — faulty goods are covered under the Australian Consumer Law, or the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act, regardless of any window.
For a change-of-mind return within the 30 nights, return postage is at your cost — send it back to us with tracking and let us know it is on the way. If an item is faulty or arrives damaged, that is different: we cover return postage and replace or refund it, which is your right under the Australian Consumer Law, or the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act, regardless.
